# Configuring an identity provider **Before you can use an identity provider, you must first register with the respective external service.**\ For certain providers, we offer predefined templates. In addition, you’ll find step-by-step instructions for registering with these identity providers and configuring the service. Currently our extension supports the following protocols: * oAuth2 * Saml 2.0 We have templates for predefined providers, but you can of course also implement other providers that are not defined here, provided they support one of the implemented protocols.
